Bringing professional women’s basketball back to Portland.
A Historic Return to Rip City
Skylark partnered with the WNBA and franchise ownership to lead the launch event for Portland’s new professional women’s basketball team — marking the league’s return to the city after more than two decades. The day-long celebration at Moda Center served as both a formal announcement and an invitation for the community to rally around the future of women’s sports in Portland.
A Full-Court Welcome
The launch kicked off with a press conference held on the Moda Center court, featuring the WNBA Commissioner, ownership group leaders, and local elected officials. Skylark oversaw all aspects of the event, from venue coordination to vendor management, ensuring every detail of the experience reflected the energy and ambition of the franchise’s next chapter.
Celebrating the Community
Following the announcement, Skylark helped stage a basketball clinic for local girls, turning inspiration into action. The day wrapped with a block party that brought out fans from across the city, complete with local vendors, food, music, and interactive experiences. Skylark helped facilitate partnerships with The Sports Bra, Voodoo Doughnuts and Deadstock Coffee. It was more than a media moment — it was a true celebration of Portland’s place in the future of the WNBA.
